{"id":1694,"date":"2019-01-30T17:45:18","date_gmt":"2019-01-30T16:45:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.borgotrerose.it\/le-origini-del-borgo-di-montepulciano\/"},"modified":"2019-01-31T10:54:29","modified_gmt":"2019-01-31T09:54:29","slug":"the-origins-of-montepulciano-hamlet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.borgotrerose.it\/en\/the-origins-of-montepulciano-hamlet\/","title":{"rendered":"The origins of Montepulciano hamlet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Among the undisputed jewels of Tuscany, Montepulciano has a long history linked to the events of the whole area of the Val d&#8217;Orcia and the nearby cities of Florence and Siena up to the ancient Rome.<br \/>\nRenowned even nowadays for the beauty of its palaces, churches, and monuments, as well as for the production of wine Nobile DOCG, let\u2019s discover which are the origins of this hamlet.<\/p>\n<h2>The birth of Montepulciano<\/h2>\n<p>There are several theories regarding the origin of the name of this hamlet that, according to some, is due to the one that, between the Fourth and Third century BC., was, as the legend says, the founder of the city, <strong>Porsenna<\/strong>, the famous leader and lucumone (an Etruscan term meaning king) of the nearby Chiusi.
